Unsung Hero Archive - Front Row Club

#unsunghero - Winners

Is there someone in your club who continually goes above and beyond and doesn’t get enough recognition for it? Perhaps it’s the water-boy, kit washer, or even the bus driver. Every person is important to the grassroots game. Let’s give them a special shout-out.

Let us know which unsung hero we should be celebrating this week by submitting their name, a picture and telling us all about their awesome work.

Richmond Heavies

Richmond Heavies Foundation Cyclists

They completed the 980mile cycle between Lands End & John O Groats on Sunday and we currently have raised funds for 34 defibs and are hopeful to maybe get to 40 defibs. What with the tragedies in Wales last month and recently in Henley the more defibs in rugby clubs the better chances people have should the worst happen. Huge congratulations from everyone at Front Row Club.

The Race to the Stones Team

This team have been nothing short of incredible. Both in the UK and across Asia, people have been taking part in the ‘Race to the Stones’ challenge. This involved running or hiking 100km over two days in all weather conditions – from scorching heat to pouring rain! The event was in aid of the Nicholson Memorial Fund, in memory of Anita, Alex and Annabel Nicholson who tragically lost their lives in the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka in 2019. The fund partners with the Atlas Foundation to provide children with a chance to thrive through education and rugby initiatives across Asia. The team, to date, have raised over £31,000 for this fantastic cause. Congratulations to all who were involved!

Over the weekend our Trustee & Canterbury RFC Chairman Giles Hilton MBE, was recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for his services to Rugby Union in Kent. We are beyond proud of Giles for this fantastic achievement and are grateful to have such a dedicated individual working at the heart of our organisation and the Rugby community.
